Seasonal affective disorder, often called SAD, is a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern, most commonly appearing during the fall and winter months when daylight hours grow shorter. People with SAD may experience symptoms such as low energy, persistent sadness, difficulty concentrating, increased sleep and changes in appetite—often craving carbohydrates. The condition is linked to disruptions in the body’s internal clock, reduced sunlight exposure, and shifts in serotonin and melatonin levels. Symptoms typically improve in the spring and summer. Treatment can include light therapy, psychotherapy, medication, or lifestyle adjustments that help increase exposure to natural light.

MTA launches special holiday-themed trains | Good Day Weekend

This festive train, covered in lights and holiday-themed messages, will run from Friday, November 28 and operate through New Year’s across the MTA system. It will operate on a random rotation of regularly scheduled trains all times of day and night.
