Rutgers suspends men's rugby team over rules violation

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers University says its men's rugby club sports team has been suspended over an undisclosed violation of school policy.

University spokesman EJ Miranda tells NJ.com the suspension began on Feb. 15 and the team must rectify any outstanding issues before it can seek reinstatement as a student organization. The team isn't affiliated with the athletic department and is excluded from participating in university activities while on suspension.

Neither Miranda nor head rugby coach Omar Rivera would comment on what prompted the discipline.
