WWE terminates Hulk Hogan over n-word audio

Audio of professional wrestler Hulk Hogan making racist comments has caused his termination from WWE.

The wrestling legend used the n-word in a sex tape that was leaked on-line, according to multiple media reports.

WWE confirmed the firing in a statement:  "WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide."

On Friday, Hogan apologized in a statement posted to People.com:  "Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it."

Earlier, the fan favorite posted a cryptic Tweet:  "In the storm I release control,God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be,one love. HH"

After a seven year absence, the 12-time world champion returned to the ring last year as host of WrestleMania 30.

A joint report from RadarOnline.com and The National Enquirer that Hogan used racial slurs in a conversation caught on a sex tape he is fighting in court to keep private.
