Woman struck and killed by charter bus

A charter bus hit a pedestrian who died after falling to the pavement in lower Manhattan.

The bus driver has been arrested on misdemeanor traffic charges as the investigation continues into Thursday night's collision at Centre and Leonard streets, by Manhattan's criminal courthouse.

Police say the privately owned bus started turning left onto Leonard Street as Kimberly Greer, 28, of Melville, was walking in a crosswalk.

The back of the bus hit Greer. She was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at New York- Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.

Xi Chen, 50, has been arrested on charges including failing to yield to a pedestrian.

No telephone number could immediately be found for his home.

It's not immediately clear whether he has a lawyer, and who owns the bus. The name on the charter was NYC Style Line.
