Woman robs man, burns him with hot coffee

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police in New York were on the hunt for a woman who robbed a man and then burned him with hot coffee when he confronted her.

It happened on May 28 in the Long Island City area of Queens.  Police say that approximately 5 a.m. the woman took the man's wallet ini the area of 64th St. and 39 Avenue.

The NYPD says the victim gave chase and the suspect took approximately $250 from the man's wallet and then dropped it.  The victim was able to chase her into a store, located at 63-37 39 Avenue, at which point a struggle ensued.

Police say the woman grabbed a pot of hot coffee and poured it onto the victim's neck and back before running away.

EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital for third degree burns.
