Woman assaulted, thrown on subway tracks

NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a man is facing charges including attempted murder and sex abuse in connection to a woman being groped and then pushed onto train tracks in a New York City subway station.

Police say Kimani Stephenson, 24, was arrested early Sunday morning following an investigation. Attorney information for him was not immediately available.

The woman was on the platform at a Manhattan station around 4:20 a.m. Friday when she was approached by a man and touched on her chest and groin. Police say the 22-year-old woman confronted the person who had touched her, and he then pushed her onto the subway tracks before fleeing.

She was pulled to safety by an onlooker and taken to the hospital with injuries to her wrist, shoulder and leg.
