Veterinarian has breakfast with scared rescue dog
It's a story that started somewhat sad...and is now light years closer to stellar. Meet Graycie. She's such a pretty rescue dog, now living and being taken care of at Granite Hills Animal Care in Elberton, Ga.
Miss Graycie may look like a puppy, but veterinarians believe she's full grown and has probably given birth to a litter. She came in emaciated, dehydrated, hypothermic, and with an extremely painful prolapse.
With her is Dr. Andy Mathis. He met her January 29--and with Graycie in such bad shape then, Dr. Mathis thought she would have to be put down because of all the pain she was experiencing. Well, he knew she deserved a better life so he brought her in to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia.
You can see him sitting in the kennel with her, eating breakfast. Though Graycie is being nursed back to health and gaining a little weight...she is still terrified and trying to get used to all the wonderful love and treatment. Dr. Mathis shows it takes some good ol' TLC to get Graycie accustomed to living a life she didn't get before. And it's all about second chances at Granite Hills. Though she has further to go, she's come a long way, baby!
Watch Graycie and Dr. Mathis as the two of them take steps toward proving she can live the normal life she's always deserved!
