Valley Stream is 'best place to live' in New York

"Valley Stream is the best" seems to be a popular opinion among residents of Valley Stream on Long Island. But hey, it is warranted because Money Magazine officially named it the best place to live in New York State.

"Valley Stream is a wonderful, friendly, welcoming community," Mayor Ed Fare said at a press conference Friday celebrating the honor.

The Nassau County village was selected based on its economy, education, affordability, safety, convenience, and overall quality of life.

Just 35 minutes from Manhattan, Valley Stream is positioned between two major highways, is near Kennedy Airport, and has a Long Island Rail Road station. As the saying goes, it is all about location, location, location.

While easy access to transportation is one of the things so many love about this town, so is the Hendrickson Park and pool complex, which is among the 105 acres of parkland in Valley Stream.

The village of more than 38,000 people is proud of its diverse population; 60 languages are spoken in this close-knit community.
