Upstate NY man test driving new car hurt in head-on crash
CLAY, N.Y. (AP) — An 85-year-old central New York man is hospitalized with injuries suffered in a head-on collision while he was test driving a new car.
Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say Edward Cusato Sr. was test driving a new Kia in the Town of Clay late Thursday afternoon with 39-year-old salesman Salvatore Brancaccio when 19-year-old Taylor Wood-Frederick crossed the center lane of the two-lane road north of Syracuse in a 2015 Mazda and struck the Kia head-on.
Deputies say the two men were trapped inside the vehicle for several minutes before they were extricated.
Cusato was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital with critical injuries, while Brancaccio and Wood-Frederick were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Both men remained hospitalized Friday afternoon, but hospital staff said the woman was released.
