Uber, the app-based car service, is celebrating five years in New York City this week by rewarding its customers.

"We are celebrating, every day, in one borough of the city with free pizza and $5 Uber pool rides," said General Manager Josh Mohrer.

The pizza will be available at select pizzerias in the designated borough of the day.

The $5 pool rides must begin and end in that borough only on the selected day.

Monday, May 2, the celebration and special deals are available on Staten Island.

May 3: Bronx; May 4: Queens; May 5: Brooklyn, May 6: Manhattan.

As for rumors the company is now encouraging tipping of its drivers, Mohrer says it is simply not true.

“Nothing has changed. There has been some confusion... that tipping is now a thing. That is not true. Tipping is not require nor expected. That is not how Uber is set up," said Mohrer.
