Trump's election means years of tight security in Midtown Manhattan
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Heavily armed tactical units patrol 5th Avenue around Trump Tower. Uniformed police set up checkpoints on the street corner around the president elect's Midtown Manhattan residence. Visitors must have bags checked and go through a metal detector in the lobby.
Security experts say protecting President-elect Trump in his New York City home poses extra challenges. Trump lives in the top floors of Trump Tower. He has plenty of neighbors. Trump Tower residents are now undergoing extreme security measures just to get home.
People living in neighborhood are experiencing the inconvenience of more traffic and congestion because they live near Trump.
Going forward, of course, President-elect Trump will be spending more time in Washington. But when Trump is in town the security will get even more intense.
