Tractor-trailer gets stuck in sand at Outer Banks
COROLLA, NC - A tractor-trailer driver who was following GPS directions got stuck in the sand in the Outer Banks.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the big rig drove off the end of N.C. 12 Monday, getting stuck in deep sand a few feet from the surf.
The trucker was reportedly following a GPS signal before they realized the pavement was coming to an end. They tried to turn around on the beach, but became bogged down in the deep sand, Carl Seto, owner of Seto’s Towing and Service Center, told the newspaper.
The semi was stuck for about two hours until a wrecker was able to free it from the sand.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
