‘The Wire' star arrested on gun charge in DC, reports say

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) -- “The Wire” star Anwan Glover is facing charges in D.C. after police allegedly discovered a gun illegally in his possession in June.

According to TMZ, D.C. police picked up Glover -- whose legal name is Ralph Glover -- on June 26 after responding to a report  of a driver in a white Jeep sticking his gun out of a window and making multiple lane changes without signaling. He was in custody until being released on July 8.

When they pulled Glover over after determining that his vehicle matched that description, police allegedly found a loaded gun.

Court documents indicate that Glover does not have a license to carry a gun in the District of Columbia.

Glover’s lawyers say he didn’t know about the gun in his vehicle.

According to court documents, Glover has at least one previous conviction for carrying a pistol without a permit.

A veteran actor, Glover played “Slim Charles” on “The Wire” – he was also in “12 Years a Slave.”

In addition to a successful acting career, Glover is a member of the well-known D.C. Go-Go group Backyard Band.
