The Snack: Doughology doughnut shop
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Retired NYPD Detective Chris Stiansen knows a thing or two about donuts. So he and his wife Jackie opened up the brand new doughnut shop Doughology in Lynbrook, Long Island.
It's a concept they decided on when Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. She left her job as a stockbroker and never looked back.
Doughology features a dozen different doughnut flavors. Everything from French toast to blueberry cheesecake to peanut butter cup. Or you can become a doughologist and make your own. There are endless possibilities. They have four toppings: chocolate, vanilla peanut butter and strawberry. Then they have 21 different things you can add.
All of the doughnuts are made in a contraption, one of the only of its kind in the tri-state area, called a Belshaw doughnut robot. The dough goes in, the doughnut comes out.
Just so you know, once you start you won't be able to stop. These aren't your average doughnuts; they are melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
By the way, Jackie is now cancer free and each Wednesday proceeds from Doughology will go towards breast cancer awareness organizations.
So far, the doughnuts are a hit with customers, who keep coming back for more.
