Teen surrenders, another sought in attack on elderly man

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — One teen has surrendered and another was being sought in connection with the unprovoked attack of an elderly man last year that authorities say the youths captured on video.

Paterson police say the video shows a 17-year-old boy punch the victim in the face as the man was about to cross a city street on Dec. 7.

A 16-year-old boy who allegedly encouraged the other teen and also recorded the attack turned himself in Saturday night. He was charged with aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim.

The teen accused of hitting the victim remained at large Sunday. He faces the same charges as the other teen.

The names of the teens were not released because of their ages.
