Teen sentenced in accidental shooting death of 5-year-old boy

A 19-year-old man is sentenced to jail as the parents of a five-year-old boy grieves the death of their son. Investigators say Nima Nazerian bought a gun and allowed a 16-year-old to gain access to it in March 2015. The weapon accidentally fired while the younger teen was playing with it.

Investigators say the bullet traveled through the wall into another apartment unit where it struck and killed five-year-old Jairo Victoriano.

Nazerian entered a guilty plea on Thursday morning to allowing a child to access a firearm. Judge Mike Fields sentenced Nazerian to 11 months in the Harris County jail as part of a plea agreement. His attorney David Nachtigall tells FOX 26 News that his client and his family are deeply remorseful for the death of Jairo Victoriano.

Nachtigall says this was a tragic accident and there is simply no comparison to the death of a child.
