Teen girls, stepfather found dead in Katy home

Standing outside the home Nathan Longoria use to live in, he now mourns the loss of those police found inside early Sunday morning.

“My fiancé is their sister,” Longoria says. “They were pretty much my sisters. It’s tragedy what happened today.”

At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Reyna Perez, the girls’ mother, was getting home. Moments later, she dialed 911.

“As she entered the residence, just something seemed out of place,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says. “Her family members were not responding as she called out, so she stepped out and called for police and Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived. As they conducted a search, they discovered three deceased individuals inside the home.”

Perez’s husband Victor Portillo and her two daughters Maria Perez, 15, and Isabella Perez, 14, were found dead upstairs.

Those that knew the family brought by balloons, teddy bears and flowers, grieving the lives taken too soon.

“Maria was into soccer. Bella, she did sports as well. They were outgoing. They never had problems. They always have smiling faces and even if I had a bad day, they were the ones bringing a smile to my face,” says Longoria.

Reyna Perez was taken in for questioning and released. Detectives say there was no sign of forced entry and that they are still trying to determine what happened.
