Teen girls going to trial in deadly school bathroom fight

Two of the teens charged in connection with the deadly incident in a Delaware school bathroom that left a student dead will be going to trial next month.

The district attorney’s office told FOX 29 News both 16-year-old girls charged with third degree misdemeanor conspiracy had their first court appearances, Thursday morning. Both waived their arraignments and are scheduled for trials on June 15 in Family Court. Each could face up to one year in prison.

Amy Joyner-Francis died April 21 after investigators say three girls assaulted her inside the girls’ bathroom at Howard High School of Technology.

One teen is charged with criminally negligent homicide.

Prosecutors say they will seek to have her tried as an adult.
