Teen awaiting drag-race sentencing arrested at traffic stop
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- A Long Island teenager who is awaiting sentencing in a drag-racing crash that killed five has been arrested after a traffic stop.
Cory Gloe, 19, was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding in Farmingdale Tuesday night.
Nassau County police say they spotted marijuana and a "gravity knife" in the car. Gloe was arrested on a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Gloe pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter and other charges in connection with the 2014 crash.
Prosecutors said Gloe challenged another driver to a race in May 2014. That driver and his passengers were killed when they crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV.
Gloe's attorney, Stephen LaMagna did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
