Subway platform collapses in the Bronx
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Transit officials say the No. 5 subway line has resumed service in the Bronx.
Service between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street was suspended Tuesday night after part of a subway platform that was under construction collapsed.
Service resumed early Wednesday morning.
Northbound commuters were forced to take a shuttle bus from 180th and Eastchester/Dyre Ave. or take the no. 2 train.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says a portion of the island platform slab on the elevated Eastchester-Dyre Avenue subway station gave way. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
