Stretch of West End Avenue missing road markings

In the already complicated relationship between pedestrians and vehicles in New York City comes another dilemma. For about 12 blocks on West End Avenue, from 60th Street to 72nd Street, something very important is missing: markings on the roadways, including the crosswalks.

Residents say the problem started after crews paved the avenue on the Upper West Side in November and December.

Late last year, the city did lay down temporary lines. But when we looked on Tuesday, we had trouble seeing them.

A local city councilman said she had pressed the Department of Transportation for two months. The DOT blamed some of the problems on recent weather.
