Some Gwinnett County Parents Furious over Fundraiser

Some parents at one Gwinnett County school are furious over the way a fundraiser has been structured.

Jason and Maile Kopydlowski said they have always loved Jones Middle School and its Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

But the family said they are not happy about the school’s new fitness fundraiser.

According to the event flyer sent home with students, to participate in the event, students must bring sponsorship money. Donations start at $20.

The Kopydlowskis said they were told students who do not donate will have to sit inside a classroom, while those who did give money, play outside and participate in the activities.

The Kopydlowskis and other parents said they are okay with giving extra incentives out for certain donations, but are not okay with kids who don’t give at least $20 being left out.
