A memorial service was held Monday for the victims of American Airlines Flight 587.

The 17th annual remembrance was held at Beach 116th St. and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, site of the permanent memorial to the 265 victims.

On this date in 2001, the Airbus A300 crashed after takeoff from JFK Airport, killing all 260 people on board and five people on the ground.

The plane was headed to the Dominican Republic when it came down in the Belle Harbor section of Queens.

The deadly crash occurred three minutes into the flight on a Monday morning and two months after the terror attacks of 9/11.

The NTSB determined the cause of the crash was due to the first officer's overuse of the plane's jet rudders in navigating wake turbulence caused by another flight.
