Snow, sleet, freezing rain pass through New York area

Snow, sleet, and freezing rain hit the New York area on Tuesday. The winter storm had mostly moved on by Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service issued Winter Storm Warnings for northwestern New Jersey, western Connecticut, and a huge swath of New York (including the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, Southern Tier, Catskills, Central New York, and more. 

Most of the Winter Weather Advisories for South Jersey, New York City, Long Island, and the rest of Connecticut have expired.

The New York City Emergency Management Department issued a travel advisory for Tuesday. 

The snow in New York started early Tuesday morning and moved east throughout the day, according to New York State officials.
