Shocking video shows toddler sitting on A/C unit 13 floors up

The NYPD and the Administration for Children's Services were investigating the family of a toddler who climbed out the 13th-floor window of his apartment in the Bronx and sat on the air conditioner.

Video showed the three-year-old outside a window outside of the Butler Houses in Claremont Village.  Police responded to calls about the boy on Saturday at about 7 p.m.

In the video, the child was seen climbing onto the air conditioner as bystanders watched in horror.

The child was seen flailing one of his arms as he sat on the A/C unit. The boy leaned forward before disappearing back inside the apartment.

One witness was heard yelling: "Oh my God! Run! Hurry up!"

New York City Housing Administration workers reportedly rushed in and rescued the child.  NYCHA said they "deserve high praise for their heroism, as well as their commitment to the families that they serve."

EMS took the child to the hospital for evaluation.  The boy's mother is 24-years-old according to the NYPD.

In a statement to FOX 5 News Administration for Children's Services spokesperson Chanel Caraway stated:  "Our top priority is protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children in New York City. As soon as this family came to our attention, we launched an immediate investigation."
