Actor Rob Lowe opened his home to fire crews - some from the Bay Area - as they battled the Thomas Fire around the clock.

Although Lowe's home appears to be spared, flames crept dangerously close to his property.

Lowe posted a photo to his Instagram account Sunday which shows him battling flames with a garden hose. He wrote, "Helping earlier today. You do what you can, but when it's time... you GO."

According to TMZ the homes of Rob Lowe, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Katy Perry all had to be evacuated in the fire.

When Lowe was allowed to return home he invited firefighters over for a hearty dinner.

Tiffany Ferrito posted photos of her husband, San Jose Firefighter Mike Ferrito, and his team inside Lowe's house.

Tiffany wrote, "Mike said (Rob Lowe) was humble and welcoming and the food was delicious (they haven’t had too many hot, delicious meals). Mike said Rob is really just a regular guy and it was so nice feel a little normal (if that is considered normal).

Fairfield firefighters were also invited into Lowe's home. Tiffany said she's very thankful for everyone down their taking care of "our firefighters."

Lowe posted on his Instagram a photo of the firefighters in front of his island with the caption, "Dinner for new friends at our house." In another post he wrote, "Thank you to all the crews from all over the country who stood tall and saved my town."
