Richard Simmons says goodbye to iconic studio
Richard Simmons’ famous exercise studio, Slimmons, officially closed its doors Saturday afternoon.
The studio held its last class Saturday, receiving a plentiful amount of guests of all ages who wanted to take a class in the iconic studio one last time.
The fitness guru, however, did not attend the last class, but did say post a heartfelt goodbye to his studio on Facebook.
“Well, it’s been over forty years now, and I am finally taking my own advice. I am being kind to myself, and putting myself first. I am making changes and taking time to do the things I want to do. Please know that I am in good health and I am happy. No one has ever been able to tell me what to do and the same is true today. I am still independent, determined and opinionated. I simply am making a new beginning for myself -- quietly and in my very own special way,” he said.
In his goodbye letter to the studio, he explained that his absence was due to him not being very good at endings. He also addressed the fans that have supported him and his classes throughout the years, telling them to start their own chapters while living a healthy lifestyle.
Simmons had announced in October that he would be closing the studio after 42 years of business.
