Police on Long Island have released an image of a man who apparently tried to make off with someone else's child at a mall on Saturday.

The man was sitting on a bench at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream at about 5 p.m. on January 5, 2019, when he grabbed a boy's hand and started to walk away with him, according to Nassau County police detectives.

But a family member of the boy confronted the man, who then took off, police said.

Police described the suspect as white, about 35, 5 feet 5 inches, 140 pounds, and wearing a dark green coat, red-and-white pants, and black boots.
