Report: Jason Pierre-Paul released from hospital

NY Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has reportedly been released from a hospital in Florida where he had a finger amputated. The NFL Network reports that a phone operator at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami said Pierre-Paul was no longer there.

The football star had his right index finger amputated just days after suffering a fireworks injury on the Fourth of July, ESPN reported, citing sources.

Pierre-Paul had been hospitalized since the accident. He made the decision to have the amputation so that he could recover faster and return to the football field, the report said.

The Associated Press reported that Giants officials were aware of Pierre-Paul's injury.

The defensive end was set to play the 2015 season but had not yet signed the tender, the AP reported. That means the team could pull the offer and let him become a free agent.
