Regal bans kids under 6 from R-rated movies
An R rating means children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian, but Regal Cinemas is taking it one step further and saying kids under 6 are never allowed to see the movie.
Most theaters around the country now ban children under 6 from seeing R-rated movies after 6 p.m. even when they're accompanied by an adult guardian. While Regal Entertainment Group didn't respond to our request for comment, their more stringent approach is being positioned as a way to improve the movie going experience for adult patrons.
And according to Wall Street Journal entertainment reporter John Jurgensen, this decision could be good for Regal's bottom line, with the policy potentially keeping adult customers happy.
