'Real Housewives' star Teresa Giudice out of prison

One of New Jersey's "Real Housewives" is out of prison after serving nearly a year for bankruptcy fraud.

Teresa Giudice was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn. at 5:01 a.m., according to a release from Bravo TV.

"She's free," her lawyer said to The Daily Dish.

Her lawyer says she will travel home to Montville, New Jersey to serve home confinement until Feb. 5.

Giudice has been at the prison since January 5, 2015. She and her husband, Joe Giudice, pleaded guilty last year to bankruptcy fraud. They admitted hiding assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitting phony loan applications to get some $5 million in mortgages and construction loans.

Joe Giudice is expected to start his own prison sentence in March. A federal judge staggered the couple's sentences in deference to their four daughters.
