Queens woman missing since January found dead

The body of a flight attendant from Queens who was missing since January was discovered this week, police said.

The body was found on the shoreline near Rikers Island West on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Detectives and the Medical Examiner's Office identified her as Sierra Shields, 30, of Astoria.

Shields was last seen leaving LaGuardia Airport on foot on January 14, 2016.

Friends and family put up posters around Astoria and other neighborhoods near the airport. A Facebook page set up for her posted regular pleas for help in finding her.
