Prosecutor: Man assaulted, left unconscious in road, struck
PALISADES PARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in New Jersey are seeking help from the public in the case of a man assaulted and left unconscious in a roadway where he was then struck by a sport utility vehicle that fled the scene.
The Bergen County prosecutor's office and Palisades Park police say a fight was reported early on July 21, and a 33-year-old man found lying in the roadway was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Authorities say video surveillance indicates the victim was assaulted by three men and left unconscious in the boulevard's eastbound lanes, where he was struck by a four-door SUV that fled the scene.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or the assault that preceded it is asked to call prosecutors or police.
