Police: Runner fights off attacker in Prospect Park
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - A woman running in Prospect Park in Brooklyn fought off an attacker Wednesday morning, the NYPD said.
The 23-year-old woman told cops that a man came up from behind, threw her to the ground, pulled out a knife, and threatened to rape her, police said. She struggled with the man and was cut on her right index finger before the man then fled.
She was treated at Methodist Hospital, police said.
The attack happened inside the park near Garfield Place and Prospect Park West at about 5:15 a.m.
Later in the day, police officers and detectives were seen examining the area for evidence.
