Police kill bat-wielding man

Police on Long Island killed a crazed man man with a bat who attacked two people during a road rage incident.

It happened on Bayview Avenue and East Short Road in Great Neck at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says the man used a bat to beat a driver who honked at him and smashed the smashed the driver's side window on that vehicle.

The officer followed the man, used a stun gun when he refused to drop the bat, then shot him when he kept advancing.  The man died at the hospital.

The two men who were hit in the head with the bat were hospitalized.

The New York Police Department says the same man also hijacked two vehicles in Manhattan and fatally struck a pedestrian in Brooklyn earlier Monday.

On Saturday, he robbed a person in the Bronx.
