A man with a metal pipe attacked a woman on a subway platform in Midtown Manhattan Wednesday morning.

The NYPD released images from a security camera inside the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station showing a man roaming the subway platform with a pipe and what appears to be an umbrella handle.

The man hit the woman on her head with the pipe at about 7:15 a.m. on the northbound N/Q/R platform and then took off, police said.

The woman was treated at Bellevue Hospital Center for cuts on her head, the NYPD said.

Police describe the attacker as black, about 5 feet 8 inches, mid-50s, and wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black-and-white winter cap.
