Pete Rose headed to Reds Hall of Fame
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Former Cincinnati Reds player and manager Pete Rose will be among the inductees into the Reds' Hall of Fame, the team announced Tuesday.
Late last year, Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert Manfred said it had denied the former MLB star's request to be reinstated.
It was the third time Rose's ban had been upheld after Rose was banned from professional baseball in 1989 for gambling.
But the Reds felt entirely differently, citing his "on-field achievements and impact on the Reds and its fan base" being "unquestionable" and "worthy."
Rose has denied he bet on baseball more than a decade after he was banned. In 2004, he admitted to doing so when managing the Reds.
