CUMBERLAND, Md. - Authorities are searching for a Pennsylvania man wanted for threatening President Donald Trump and other elected officials.
The FBI, Secret Service and U.S. Marshals are trying to track down 27-year-old Shawn Richard Christy, who has several warrants out for his arrest in Pennsylvania for burglary, violating probation and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case.
Officials said a federal warrant was issued for Christy on June 19 after he made threats on Facebook against the district attorney in Northampton County in Pennsylvania. The Facebook post stated, “Keep it up Morganelli, I promise I’ll put a bullet in your head as soon as I put one in the head of President Donald J. Trump.”
The Facebook post has since been removed, but Christy's page has several posts that appear to be taunting law enforcement.
The U.S. Marshals Service said Christy has also threatened to use “full lethal force on any law enforcement officer that tries to detain me.”
The manhunt for Christy has taken U.S. Marshals to sightings from as far as Canada to his home in McAdoo, Pennsylvania.
“We are going to treat Mr. Christy as armed and dangerous and whether he is in Washington D.C. or Anchorage, Alaska, we are treating it as the same,” said Supervisory Deputy Robert Clark of the U.S. Marshals Service. “It's a priority for us to get him off the street for the safety of the public and for the safety of any law enforcement officer that is looking for him.”
According to officials, investigators were informed on Saturday that a stolen 2001 Jeep Cherokee from Kentucky that Christy was believed to have been driving was found in a wooded area in Nitro, West Virginia.
On the following day, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a person who saw a suspicious man sleeping inside a vehicle in Cumberland, Maryland. The man, who was later confirmed to be Christy by U.S. Marshals, fled the area.
On Monday, a business owner reported that their 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Pennsylvania license plate ZGL-2845 was stolen in the area where Christy was last spotted in Maryland. Christy is believed to be responsible for the theft of the truck, according to officials.
Christy is described as a white male with a light complexion standing 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds. He has a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, and has short dark blonde hair and a full beard. He speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist.
Anyone with information about Christy is asked to call 911 immediately or the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-Wanted-2 (1-877-926-8332).
A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information that leads to the Christy's arrest.
