Pedestrian killed by city bus in Queens
A pedestrian was killed after getting struck by a bus in Queens Friday evening, according to authorities.
At around 6:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Union Turnpike at Grand Central Parkway.
25-year-old Kevin Zeng was found unresponsive, lying on the roadway with head trauma, police said. EMS transported Zeng to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation determined that a city MTA bus was traveling southbound on Union Turnpike in the right center lane when Zeng was walking northbound on the sidewalk.
Zeng dropped a skateboard he was holding and chased it as it rolled onto the right lane on the street, the direct path of the bus. The bus driver attempted to steer away from the pedestrian, but Zeng was struck on the right passenger side of the bus.
The driver remained at the scene, and no arrests have been made.
