Parolee who escaped in his underwear captured

Hector Calo, 41, was cuffed behind his back when he escaped from DOC custody at 283 St. Paul's Ave. Thursday at about 6:45 a.m. in Stapleton, Staten Island.

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Hector Calo, 41, who managed to escape from custody of the New York State Department of Corrections while handcuffed and wearing only a tank top and underwear was captured in the Bronx Friday morning.

Calo escaped while at 283 St. Paul's Ave. Thursday at about 6:45 a.m. in Stapleton, Staten Island.

He was captured at about 1:15 a.m. at a home of someone he knows, said the NYPD.

Calo faces several charges including criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, escape from custody and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The NYPD, who was assisting the NYS DOC in the hunt, put out an alert for help finding Calo.
