Panhandlers beat, rob man outside subway station

A 61-year-old man at a subway station in the Bronx was assaulted and robbed by panhandlers, according to the NYPD.

The attack on June 18 just before 5 a.m. was captured on security cameras near the Pelham Parkway/White Plains Road station on the 2/5 lines.

A woman asks the man for money but he ignores her, according to police. Then a man follows the victim up the stairs and punches him in the face several times before dragging him back down the stairs and onto the sidewalk. The woman also punches the victim and tries to take his bag, added cops.

During the struggle the man took $20 from the victim's pocket.

A passerby intervened and the assailants fled the scene southbound on White Plains Road.

Police want to find the couple.

The first individual is a dark-skinned male with a beard; last seen wearing a light colored shirt, shorts and white socks. The second individual is a dark-skinned female; last seen wearing a light colored hooded sweater and dark colored pants.
