Pair of shoes prompts train station evacuation
NEW JERSEY (FOX 5 NY) - Police and bomb sniffing dogs responded to a report of a suspicious package at the NJ Transit Ridgewood train station Thursday morning. The station was briefly evacuated. NJ Transit says one of its police officers spotted a pair of shoes with what appeared to be a wire under them beneath a bench at 8:45 a.m.
Officials determined the shoes did not pose a threat and service resumed with delays after 10 a.m. The station serves the Main/Bergen and Port Jervis lines to New York City.
Residual delays continued.
