Overnight snow causes mess for morning commute

People in the New York City area were waking up Thursday to an inch or so of snow, causing slick roads and some accidents.  The snow was continuing to fall in the city in the 6 a.m. hour.

In New Jersey, NJ Transit crews were working to clean snow off of station sidewalks and platforms.  In Westfield, about an inch of snow fell.  Back on Long Island, two women were seriously injured when their car went off the road and slid into a building during a two car accident in Smithtown.

Several school districts were reporting delays due to the weather.  LIST OF CLOSINGS AND DELAYS

A Winter Weather Advisory that had been posted in New Jersey was canceled around 5 a.m. due to the bulk of the snowfall ending.  A few flurries were still possible as the morning went along.

The New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway imposed speed restrictions due to the snowy conditions.
