Off-duty NYPD cop shoots robber

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - An off-duty NYPD officer shot a man who tried to rob him in the Bronx.

Police say it happened just before 4 a.m. in the area of Cresston Ave. and E. 179th St. in Mount Hope.

Police say at least three men tried to rob the officer.  The officer pulled his gun and fired.  The suspect that was hit was arrested and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in statble condition.  The other two men ran away and were still on the loose.

The officer was not injured but was taken to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital for evauluation for ringing in the ears.
