Off-duty cop shoots suspect in attempted robbery
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - An off-duty officer shot and wounded a suspect during an armed robbery in the Bronx early Monday morning.
The NYPD says three men surrounded an off-duty sergeant at 178th Street and Creston Avenue. They stole his phone and that is when they discovered his shield.
Police say one of the suspects had a gun, while the other suspect was armed with a knife. One of the men said 'shoot him' in Spanish.
The sergeant drew his firearm and shot one of the suspects in the torso. He's in stable condition.
The other two men took off.
