October shopping deals

Christmas Creep is making its way into the month of October. The holiday sales are starting already and you might benefit from jumping on some of those deals right now.

So what should you buy and what should you wait for?

Smart Shopping Expert Trae Bodge says October is a great time to shop for holiday gifts and for other things you might need for home. So don't wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday to do your holiday shopping, especially if you're shopping for toys.

Bodge says that according to www.yroo.com toys were cheaper last year during the month of October. So for parents out there or people with kids on their list, this is a great time to shop for toys.

She says that if you find a good sale, say 20% or more, take it, because you probably won't find a better deal closer to the Christmas holiday.

Electronics are the best things to shop for come Thanksgiving, especially if you want the latest models.

Bodge says Black Friday and Cyber Monday are great for electronic toys, but also the newest tablets, phones, and flat screens. If you have big appliances on your wish list, now is the time to move.

Bodge admits that big appliances aren't so romantic and might not make a great gift, but if you need one for your home, now is a great time to look. She says a lot of the appliance sales start in September, and there are drags of inventory of great items that are very well priced right now.

This is also a great month for certain clothing, denim in particular, and there is plenty out there. If you, or someone on your list needs jeans, Bodge says now is the time to find great deals.

Just remember there are two categories of kids' gifts. Get the toys now, but wait on the electronic toys and video games, especially if they're new models or releases. Bodge says if you happen to need a new air conditioning unit, October is also the month to buy.

If your family loves camping, this is a great time to shop for camping equipment, too. These are all bulky items that are no longer in season, and the stores want to move them out to make room for holiday and winter stock.
