NYPD: Woman found dead on quiet Brooklyn sidewalk

NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - Police are investigating the death of a woman's whose body was found outdoors in Brooklyn Thursday morning.

Officers responded to a 911 call about an "assault in progress" on Orlean Street in Midwood just before 6:30 a.m., the NYPD said. They found an " unconscious and unresponsive" woman lying on the sidewalk, police said. She had no obvious signs of trauma.

Medics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.

The New York Post reported that the woman's pants were down and blouse was pulled up. Fox 5 has not independently confirmed that account.

The city's medical examiner will try to find out what caused her death, police said.
