Police detectives on Wednesday released security camera images of a man suspected of brutally attacking a woman in Queens on Monday.

The 52-year-old woman dropped off her son at a school in Kew Gardens at about 8 a.m. and then returned to her home near 72nd Road and Kissena Boulevard, police said. Then a man sexually assaulted her and fractured her skull, NYPD said.

Officers found the woman at the bottom of a stairwell outside her building at around 8:30 a.m. She was unconscious and had trauma to her face and body. A source told Fox 5 that her face was unrecognizable.

Medics rushed her to a hospital, where she is listed in critical but stable condition. She has not been able to speak with detectives, police said. Investigators believe the attacker targeted her at random.

Police hope that someone might recognize the attacker. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Police say that all calls are confidential.
