NYPD: Missing Brooklyn siblings found safe in Manhattan

Two children who went missing in Brownsville, Brooklyn, on Wednesday, were found safe a day later, according to the New York City Police Department.

The NYPD said Thursday morning that siblings Lala Washington, 12, and Andrew Hillard, 9, left their Amboy Street home at about 8 a.m. Wednesday to go to a food program located across the street and then went missing.

Thursday evening, the department said the children had been "recovered" at 325 West 49 Street in Midtown Manhattan.

"They are in good health but are being taken to an area hospital for evaluation," the NYPD said. "The mother has been notified."
