    • A man and woman were stabbed on West 47th Street in Hell's Kitchen on Wednesday afternoon, the NYPD said. 
    • Both were taken to Morningside Hospital, where the man died, and the woman was recovering. 
    • A person of interest was in custody, according to police.

What we know:

The NYPD reported officers found a 35-year-old woman with stab wounds at around 2:45 p.m. at 400 West 47th Street.

John Carlos Mesa, a 26-year-old homeless man, was also found with stab wounds in the area, police said. 

Both were taken to Morningside Hospital, where Mesa was pronounced dead.

Police said a person of interest was taken into custody, while the investigation was ongoing.

What we don't know:

Any potential motive for the incident is not known at this time.
